It is roughly 1.5 hour&#8217;s drive from Sydney and there plenty to do when escaping for the long weekend with your dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much of the mountains are National Park, which means strictly no dogs, but there is still plenty to do on a long weekend with your pet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au\/things-to-do\/lookouts\/echo-point-lookout-three-sisters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Echo Point Lookou<\/a>t: Views of the Three Sisters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alltrails.com\/trail\/australia\/new-south-wales\/south-lawson-waterfall-walking-track\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South Lawson Waterfall Loop<\/a>: Pet-friendly walk to Cataract Falls. Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au\/For-Residents\/Pets-Animals\/Off-leash-Prohibited-Areas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shoalhaven City Council<\/a> website for the most up-to-date information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hyams Beach: Dogs allowed all year round but must be on lead. This is one of the most famous beaches in the area, for its pristine white sand.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/jervisbaybrewing.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jervis Bay Brewing Co<\/a>: If you like a cold beer on holidays, this is the place to visit. They do a great range of boutique beers with a beer garden that is dog-friendly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jervisbaywild.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Whale watching<\/a>: Jervis Bay is a famous spot for heading out to spot whales as they migrate. Dundee Beach is a must visit if you love all things beach and water sports. It is roughly a 1 hour drive from Darwin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While you visit with your dog, there are a few things you can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dog walking along Dundee Beach, which is off lead. Enjoy it at any time of day, but the NT sunsets are particularly beautiful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dundeebeachholidaypark.com.au\/bar-restaurant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Lodge of Dundee<\/a>&nbsp;is a popular spot for meals a drink, topping up with fuel, essentials or bait.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Another eating option is Sunset Palms. It is a little further out but does food all day, every day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fishing is a popular activity in the area. This has the most up to date information. But here are the highlights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Noosa Spit: dogs are allowed off-lead on the entire spit leading to the Noosa River and the beaches on either side.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Noosa Doggy Beach: on the northern side of the river, this is one of the most popular spots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When the weather is nice all year, visitors can make the most of outdoor dining, which is perfect for your dog. There are plenty of places to choose from. These are some of our favourites:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.concept.coffee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Concept.coffee<\/a>: on the boardwalk at the Riverside Centre in Maleny. A great spot for excellent coffee and plenty of outdoor seating for you and the dog.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/theveloproject.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Velo Project<\/a>: really dog friendly and they even have a dog menu! Located in Mooloolaba.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/maltshoveltaphouse.com.au\/our-venues\/sunshine-coast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Malt Shovel Taphouse<\/a>: great local beers and outdoor dining that is all dog friendly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunshineandsons.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sunshine &amp; Sons<\/a>: this is a dog friendly distillery in Woombye. Find out more about the other dog-friendly beaches in the area&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yankalilla.sa.gov.au\/services\/animals-and-pests\/dogsonbeaches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Local council provide poo bags in the area that are totally compostable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NormanvilleKioskandCafe\/menu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Normanville Kiosk and Cafe<\/a>&nbsp;is right on the beach and the perfect place to get your morning coffee before a walk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Just a 15 minutes drive away is a brewery called Smiling&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/smilingsamoyed.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Samoyed Brewery.<\/a>&nbsp;It is so dog friendly, they name it after their dog!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you\u2019d prefer to visit a winery there are plenty to choose from in the area. McClaren Vale is around 40 minutes from Normanville.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alphaboxdice.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alpha Box and Dice<\/a>&nbsp;is one of our favourites as they welcome dogs into the cellar door and have a little treat for your dogs.
