About This Listing

Wake up to the sound of birds and the whispering wind at Cathy's Cottage, a romantic 'dog-friendly' hideaway set amidst 35ha of trees and fields at Wuthering Heights, 6km N of Clare.

Includes:

Fully made-up bed
Fire Pit outside
Generous provisions for cooked English breakfast
Port
Firewood
Foxtel
BBQ in the half-covered courtyard

The cosy, secluded cottage has a potbelly stove and is perfect for those who enjoy being close to nature. Kangaroos are frequent visitors, 42 bird varieties nest in the property’s 25,000 trees, and there are two resident alpacas.

Cook up your generous breakfast supplies over the stovetop, open fire, or use the courtyard BBQ.

Cathy's Cottage welcomes all couples and their beloved four-legged friends with beautiful 360-degree views overlooking an open vista of trees and sweeping grassy hills where dogs love to run around, off-leash.

Inside the cosy, self-contained cottage, you'll find all the amenities needed to make your stay as comfortable and special as possible, regardless of the weather. The reverse-cycle air conditioner in the slate-floored living room is quiet and efficient, while the pot belly stove provides a wonderful ambience during the cooler weather. All linen is provided, as well as electric blankets.

In the kitchen, you'll find pots and pans for cooking up a storm while you gaze out over the beautiful, undisturbed views of ancient gums and bushland. The kitchen opens onto a half-covered patio with a BBQ and comfortable sofa where you can watch the birds and kangaroos.

The charming courtyard is also enclosed by a wire and picket fence where you can secure your dogs while you visit the restaurants and wineries.

Beautiful views can also be enjoyed from the double bedroom as well as the separate living room. Many guests love to watch the sun go down from the front verandah before retiring to the back patio where they can wander out of the little gate to the fire pit area with a dry creek at the bottom of the hill a few metres away.

The birdlife is abundant and kangaroos are frequent visitors.

Foxtel provides inside entertainment while outdoors, guests can take advantage of abundant firewood for the bonfire on the slope between the cottage and the creek bed.

A key is left in the door from 3 PM onwards and vacation is by 11:00 AM on day of departure.

So, bring along your loved ones - your friends, family and furry four-legged friends ... and enjoy the wide-open spaces and all the charm of Bronte Manor!

Please note that during long weekends, there is a three-night minimum.

We offer total seclusion, fresh country air and tuneful birdlife. Also, firewood for two nights to use in the pot belly stove or in the fire pit. An extra 15 pieces of good burning wood is an additional $20 which you can order before 12 noon.

Many a wonderful evening has been spent at Cathy's Cottage sampling the local vintages while enjoying a BBQ - gas in summer or wood-fired in winter. Not another building distracts the eye while many meandering walks can be enjoyed through the thousands of trees.

Everything is on one level so it's a favourite for those who can't access stairs.

If Cathy's Cottage sounds like the wonderful country escape you're looking for, then we look forward to welcoming you.

Guest access
Cathy's Cottage is popular for cyclists or walking trail enthusiasts as the popular Riesling Trail follows the old train line between Clare and Auburn (22km). The trail passes close to wineries, restaurants and scenic spots. It is sign posted and the full trail does not have to be negotiated.

Restaurants, wineries and a first class golf course are easily accessible. Clare township offers good shopping facilities while the Clare Valley is noted for its fine wines, excellent wineries, scenic drives and the beauty of its trees and rolling hills. The area has an unspoilt rural charm about it.

Other things to note
The back patio also has an eating area, BBQ and a comfy sofa so you can enjoy the outdoors in all weathers.

On a clear star-studded night, there's nothing more fun than toasting marshmallows in the fire pit beyond the patio (fire-bans permitting).

Very comfortable for 2 people and their dog. Quite rustic and it is good value. Would be ideal in middle of winter and/or summer.

We loved our stay at Cathy's Cottage, gorgeous rustic wooden cabin, so homely with a wood fire, great for our fur baby border collie. The wonderful owners had bacon tomatoe and eggs bread in the fridge, completely spoilt. We would highly recommend all of the accommodation at Wuthering Heights each unique very peaceful, place we will stay again thankyou

A great relaxing stay at Wuthering Heights - spacious area to walk and take in and quiet enough to feel like you're in the middle of nowhere!

The cottage is set on a beautiful property. The cottage has character and all the essentials including a comfortable bed and breakfast provisions. Small and not for those wanting extra comforts of a fancy accom.

Absolute paradise! The cottage was fitted out beautifully with everything we needed. The grounds were spacious and varied. Among other things, we enjoyed the wood fire inside, the BBQ on the back verandah and the campfire outside the enclosed back yard. Beautiful views through every window and door. Chairs and tables on front and back verandahs gave a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. We are SO doing this again!

Lovely location, quiet & peaceful surroundings. All you need for a few days stay & nice little courtyard for the pooch. We did book on a weekend that turned our very hot, 43 degrees & it wasn't very comfortable so ended up cutting our stay short which was disappointing, but everywhere was hot that weekend.

Absolutely brilliant! Superb small cottage in a rural location with all you could want for a comfortable stay with our two year old Border Collie. Very comfortable, kitchen and bathroom facilities great. Well appointed, clean with TV and CD player. Close to Clare and a good base to explore the region. Loved living on tank water again!
