Australian Animal Stories BACKGROUND:
In 1992 ‘Life. Be in it’ published its first ‘Australian Animal Stories’ book. This book was so successful that it is now out of print and out of stock. Audio tapes for the sight impaired were also produced by the Association for the Blind in Western Australia.

Since the first edition we have received many requests for more stories. ‘Life. Be in it’ wants to continue to gather stories and to document the valuable contribution that animals make to our lives. So in 2002 ‘Life. Be in it’ ran another search for stories about Australian Animals and Australian Wildlife.

We invited authors to write stories about pets, other animals and native wildlife.

Suggested content for stories included:

how a dog, a cat, a horse, a rabbit, a pet bird, another animal or a native animal or wild bird has enriched your life, or the life of someone else
a funny or heart-warming episode involving a pet or a native animal
an experience that you have had at the vet
a courageous or heroic act by a pet or a native animal
an interesting or unusual relationship between animals

STILL TIME TO WRITE US A STORY:
Even though the competition has now concluded and the prizes have been allocated we will still accept more stories for consideration for inclusion in a future publication.
However the condition still applies that whilst you will retain copyright of your story, no author royalties will be paid to those authors whose stories are accepted for publication in the book. PHOTOS ALSO NEEDED:
We will also need photographs of animals and wildlife for our new publication. Fees cannot be paid but credits for all photographs will be given.

Buffy, the 'Life. Be in it' Office Dog
Buffy, a lively Jack Russell/minuature Fox Terrier cross comes to the'Life. Be in it office every day except when visiting her fitness farm in the country. Having Buffy in the office is a real bonus for her, the staff and visitors. She helps to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and contributes to the staff's health by insisting on frequent walks to Fawkner Park which abuts our office.
